  Aubry Mintz
  Character Animator at Pixar
"Animation is not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to work hard, work hard some more, and always be ready to learn something new."

Bruce Kuei is a graduate of Laguna College of Art and Design, and is currently a character animator at Pixar Studios, working on Ratatouille.  Prior to Pixar, Bruce worked at Omation Studios and BlueSky Studios.  Among his projects were Ice Age: The Meltdown and Barnyard: The Original Party Animals movie.

Bruce credits his school for preparing him to meet the demands of the fast-paced, high-quality world of animation.  One of the first things he recognized as an animation pro is that learning and dedication to craft remain vitally important in the studios as it was for Bruce at Laguna College of Art and Design...

My teacher Aubrey Mintz worked really hard to get us industry exposure, which helped tremendously.  He also kept pushing us to go beyond our comfort level to improve our art.”

ACME helped to broaden Bruce’s exposure also...

It got us in touch with the industry professionals.  It also brought together many schools so that you’re not only learning from those around you, but from students all over the world.”

In particular, Bruce values the guidance he received through ACME from Jamie Lopez, Mark Andrews and Andreas Deja.

Bruce has a straightforward message for students of the art form...

“Animation is not for the faint of heart.  Be prepared to work hard, work hard some more, and always be ready to learn something new.”
